A FRIENDLY AND WELCOMELY ART CLASSROOM

An Art classroom defines a unique and colorful environment for the learners. A well conducive classroom is one factor in the learners' learning development. Learners learning development can be more productive when their environment is safe and more attractive to them. The learners will understand and learn more things in the classroom when they feel comfortable and safe. A unique environment is something that every learner has to be accepted, respected, and even celebrated. A learner who feels confident in himself despite being different from others is one who belongs to an effective learning environment. Having fun while learning is the most effective way for learners to know and explore new things.

Being an effective Art teacher, it is very important to provide the learners with a well conducive classroom. As a teacher, we have to know our learners very well probably, we have to know their names possibly. We have to know some personal things about them and know their different aspect as well. A good teacher always provides positive comments and is fair to everyone inside and outside the classroom. We have to show our learners that we are always interested in teaching them and we care for them. A well conducive environment for learners is the classroom where all questions and answers are encouraged and valued. We have to treat our learners fairly and welcomed them with love and care.

SIGNIFICANCE OF A WELL-CONDUCIVE ENVIRONMENT IN AN ART CLASS AND HOW TO MAKE ART CLASSROOM

A pleasant learning atmosphere is essential:

Having excellent teachers is not enough to ensure effective learning; studies have regularly revealed a link between the school atmosphere and student results. Variables that affect students' academic performance or achievement include school size, location or site, and class size; teacher-teacher and teacher-student relationships; facilities such as libraries, technical workshops, and laboratories; teacher quality, school management, and teaching methods, and peer influence.

"The quality of education is dependent not only on teachers as reflected in their performance of their duties, but also on the effective coordination of the school environment," adding that the physical characteristics of a school have a variety of effects on teachers, students, and the learning process.

Poor lighting, classroom noises, and inconsistent temperatures make teaching and learning difficult, while poor maintenance and ineffective ventilation systems lead to poor health among students as well as teachers. These lead to poor performance and high absentee rates.

These factors can adversely affect student behavior and lead to high levels of frustration among teachers and poor learning attitudes among students.

"The school environment is an important area that should be examined and handled efficiently to improve kids' academic performance, development, and progress."

“A conducive environment for learning, such as one with comfortable classroom set-ups, relevant use of teaching materials, and interesting classroom activities, will further motivate the students to learn.

Making a Peaceful and Supportive Art Classroom

Here are five simple strategies to create an art classroom environment that enables kids to feel at ease and engaged:

  • Clean and organize your classroom space. Avoid going overboard with distracting clutter so students have the space to do their best work. Keep surfaces and drawers as neat and tidy as possible.
  • Try to arrange all the tables, seating, and storage so that your go-to’s and must-haves are easy to reach and simple to put away. You won’t want to spend precious time looking for supplies or playing Tetris on the shelves when cleaning up between classes.
  • Encourage students to treat you and each other with respect by ensuring that you can supervise all the action areas of the room. Wherever your students are working, you’ll want to be able to step in and monitor projects and interactions.
  • Movement happens in the art room, so you want to make sure that you and your students can safely and easily navigate the space.
  • The final refresh is in your language and interactions with your students. Try to take a step back and really focus on speaking and modeling respect for all your learning artists. This will encourage them to treat each other with respect, but it will help create an art room environment that makes your students feel safe and supported.
